What Is This About?

This study is testing a new and updated flu vaccine designed to better protect against the latest flu strains. Every year, flu viruses change—and sometimes the traditional flu shot doesn't match up well with what's actually spreading. This new vaccine is being developed to provide stronger, more targeted protection, potentially helping people avoid getting sick even when the flu virus mutates.

Participants in the study receive either the updated vaccine or comparator flu vaccine, and researchers monitor how well each one works. The goal is to stay ahead of evolving flu strains and improve how effective flu vaccines are from year to year.

Who Can Join?

Eligibility Criteria

We’re looking for adults ages 65 and older to take part in a flu vaccine research study taking place at our Plano, TX location. Considered medically stable at the time of enrollment.
Health: Must be in generally good health with no serious allergies to vaccines.
Willingness: Must agree to follow the study plan and attend all check-ins. (3 in-office visits, 1 remote phone calls)
Other factors: Can’t be sick at the time of the shot or have other major health issues that would interfere with the study. (During screening we can determine what is acceptable)

Study Steps

Participating in a clinical trial is simple and safe. First, we’ll guide you through a screening process to see if you qualify, which may include a short questionnaire or basic health tests. If eligible, you’ll be scheduled for study visits where you’ll receive the study treatment or intervention at no cost. There’s no insurance required and no payment on your part to participate. Our medical team will monitor your progress closely to ensure your safety, and you’re free to withdraw from the study at any time.

Screening Visits

Once you meet the initial qualifications for one of our paid clinical trials, you’ll be invited to come in for a screening visit. During this visit, you’ll receive detailed information about the study, and our team will answer any questions you have. Participation is completely voluntary. If you choose to move forward, you’ll be asked to sign a consent form. Depending on the study, we may perform health assessments such as a urine sample, ECG, or lab tests to confirm your eligibility.

Office Visits

If you qualify for the study, you’ll return for scheduled office visits where the study medication may be given, and tests will be performed to evaluate how it’s working. These visits typically include brief check-ups, medical monitoring, and may involve an exam, lab work, or a blood pressure check—depending on the study. Visits can take place over several days or stretch out over a few months. You’ll receive compensation for your time and travel at the end of each visit.

Diaries & Phone Calls

To help track your progress during the study, you may be asked to use an app or complete a digital diary to record important information like how you’re feeling or if you’ve experienced any side effects. This helps our team monitor your health between visits. In some cases, we’ll also schedule brief phone calls to check in—no need to come into the office for these.
